GLP-1 Medication Educational Brochure

Plain-language healthcare educational brochure designed to help adults understand GLP-1 medications, prepare for healthcare provider visits, and make informed decisions.

The Challenge

Our challenge was to provide trustworthy, accessible information that would prepare patients for meaningful discussions with their healthcare providers about GLP-1 medication effectiveness, side effects, costs, and insurance coverage.

My Role

For this project, I served as editor and production specialist. As editor, I helped shape the content, keep it within project scope, and improve its consistency and readability. As production specialist, I created the user education journey map and prepared a presentation documenting our group's development process and final deliverable.

Audience

The brochure was designed for our primary persona, a 57-year-old woman who wants to lose 30-50 pounds and is curious about GLP-1 medications. She wants to make an informed decision about whether to use a GLP-1 medication as part of her health journey.

Approach

To identify our primary audience and content strategy, our team conducted a user survey, reviewed industry research, and developed a persona, empathy map, and education journey map. We used plain-language principles, collaborative writing and editing, and iterative reviews to produce the content.

Result

The final deliverable is practical, accessible, and user-centered. It explains how GLP-1 medications work, potential side effects, costs, and possible insurance coverage. It also includes a pre-appointment checklist and questions readers can ask a healthcare provider when considering a GLP-1 medication.
